Home from Europe, back out with HARVEY MILK in 3 days!!

Torche live @ HELLFEST - Clisson, FR - photos by David Smith

We just returned from a 3 week festival tour of Europe w/ Kylesa. Played shows along the way with Shitstorm, Coalesce, Voivod, Isis, Mono, Mogwai, Monotonix, Mastodon, Down and a ton of other great bands. We had a blast.

We have an upcoming new split with Boris titled "Chapter Ahead Being Fake." The split will be released by Daymare on CD, by Hydra Head on 10" vinyl, and by RCP Tapes on limited cassette. Release date is August 19th, 2009.

On Saturday, our co-headlining U.S./Canada tour with Harvey Milk begins in Miami. Hydra Head Champions Of Sound Tour 2009. You can find more info and dates on our myspace page. We will have the last remaining copies from the 2nd pressing of the "Meanderthal Demos" on tape, as well as the last remaining copies of the "Meanderthal" LP. Don't expect a repressing of the LP anytime soon. After the Harvey Milk tour we'll be flying to Los Angeles to play a free show with Big Business, then we do Best Friends Day in Richmond, VA a couple weeks later.

Come September, we'll be writing a lot and not playing many shows. In October we'll be doin' the Fest 8 in Gainesville (Torche's first time back since 2004).

More to come soon! See yall on the road!

NEW ALBUM, SXSW, MERCH, and MORE!!!

Taken from Hydrahead Industries' online blog:

Torche's second full-length, Meanderthal, is set for an April 8th release through Hydra Head (vinyl to be released on Robotic Empire).

Recorded throughout November 2007 at God City Studios, the 13 track album is Torche's first with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Genghis Tron, Disfear) at the helm.

"Having built a unique sound with their self-titled debut and followup "In Return" EP, Torche fully realize their potential with their most infectious recordings to date. No amount of heaviness is compromised on "Meanderthal", an album that should fuel fans heavy fix as well as their undeniable need for catchyness. - Andy Low (Robotic Empire, completely biased supporter of Torche)

Catch the band as they head to SXSW:

March 09 @ The Atlantic - Gainesville, FL
March 10 @ The Jinx - Savannah, GA
March 11 @ Drunken Unicron - Atlanta, GA (w/ Harvey Milk)
March 12 @ Downtown Music - Little Rock AR (w/ Harvey Milk)
March 13 @ Andy's Bar - Denton TX (w/ Harvey Milk)
March 14 @ HHR Show at SXSW (w/ Harvey Milk, Kayo Dot, Clouds, Everlovely Lightingheart, and more)
March 15 @ Chunklet Party at SXSW (w/ Harvey Milk, Monotonix, and more)
March 16 @ Double Wide - Dallas, TX (w/ Parts And Labor, more)

March 18 @ The Beta Bar - Tallahassee, FL (w/ Whole Wheat Bread and Authority Zero)
March 19 @ The State Theater - St. Petersburg, FL (w/ Municipal Waste and Iron Lung)

We also just posted a new track from 'Meanderthal' on our myspace page. Be sure to check it out! http://www.myspace.com/torche.

Prefixmag.com have reviewed the track "Piranha" off the forthcoming album, Meanderthal from Torche. Heres what they had to say...

"Yeah, that track title’s about right. This new song, “Piranha,” from Torche’s forthcoming Meanderthal album, shreds with short, razor-sharp riffs that do their business quickly and then swim away searching for fresh meat. Vicious sure, but also sleek and hyperdriven (think Queens of the Digital Age). And them glazed over vocal harmonies sure are friendly, like a pack of twenty-fourth-century biker dudes inviting you to join them as they traverse the galaxy on their rocket-hogs. “Piranha” isn’t a huge departure from the sound of Torche’s self-titled debut or last year’s In Return EP, but you won’t find a shorter song that rocks harder, guaranteed. This is what getting stoned in the future will feel like."

For SXSW this year, TORCHE will have limited edition cassette versions of our first full length. Only 100 of these will be made. I reworked the layout to properly fit the cassette J-Card and I think it came out looking really good. 30 of these will be available for mailorder online once they arrive in the mail. Try and keep a hard eye on the TORCHE myspace page and this blog for updates on that!
